Why tier-2 and tier-3 college students need a different kind of placement support

Students from IITs, NITs, and premier institutes have companies lined up at their campuses, dedicated placement offices working year-round, and peer networks that share placement experience and company-specific preparation. Students from tier-2 and tier-3 colleges often have none of this.

You may have the academic scores, the discipline, and the capability to perform in a placement round. But without structured aptitude practice, mock interviews with real feedback, and someone actively connecting you to recruitment drives, you end up unprepared when the drive happens and unable to get to the next round even when you do well on paper.

That is what this programme fixes. We have worked with students from government colleges, private engineering colleges, arts and commerce colleges, and vocational institutes across India. The problem is always the same, and so is the fix.

Priyanshu Goyal, India Wing Director: "Most tier-2 college students I have worked with were not lacking in ability. They were lacking in preparation and access. Once they had both, the results came. The aptitude round, the GD, the technical, the HR, these are all learnable skills. Nobody is born knowing how to clear an Infosys cognitive test."

What the 12-week programme covers

Every week is structured with a specific goal. You will not spend 12 weeks doing the same type of aptitude practice in different formats. Each phase builds on the previous one, and by week 12 you are doing full end-to-end mock placement drives.

Weeks 1-3

Quantitative aptitude and logical reasoning

Number systems, percentages, ratios, time-speed-distance, profit-loss, seating arrangement, blood relations, syllogisms, and coding-decoding. We identify weak areas in session 1 and prioritise your study accordingly. Daily practice problems with worked solutions.

Weeks 4-5

Verbal ability and English communication

Reading comprehension, sentence correction, error spotting, para-jumbles, and vocabulary. Written English for email communication and cover letters. Pronunciation and articulation for spoken assessment rounds.

Weeks 6-7

Group Discussion skills

Live GD sessions with peers on current affairs, abstract, and case-based topics. You receive individual feedback on initiation, structure, listening, and contribution quality. The biggest improvement most students make is in their GD performance.

Weeks 8-9

Resume building and profile positioning

Full resume review and rewrite for each student. Project descriptions rewritten to highlight contribution, impact, and technology used. LinkedIn profile set up or improved. ATS-friendly formatting for online applications.

Weeks 10-11

Technical and HR mock interviews

Live mock interviews with real-time feedback. Technical rounds cover your discipline-specific topics. HR rounds cover behavioural questions, situational questions, and company-fit questions. You receive a written debrief after each mock session.

Week 12

Full mock placement drive and active placement support

End-to-end simulation of a complete placement drive: online aptitude test, GD, technical interview, HR interview. We also actively connect students to open recruitment drives happening during this period. You finish the programme prepared and actively in the process.

Common questions about campus placement preparation

Q
What CGPA or percentage do I need to join?

Most companies set a minimum academic cutoff of 60% or 6.0 CGPA. Students below this level can still join, but we will be transparent about which companies they are eligible for. Students close to or above the threshold benefit the most, because academic scores alone do not determine who gets placed. The preparation does.

Q
I am in my final year. Is it too late to start?

No. Final year is exactly when placement drives happen. Starting the programme in your 7th or 8th semester, before on-campus drives begin, gives you enough time to go through all 12 weeks. If drives are already happening at your college, we can run an accelerated version focusing on the round you are struggling with most.

Q
Do you work with students from arts, commerce, or non-engineering backgrounds?

Yes. The placement preparation skills (aptitude, GD, interview technique, resume building) are not discipline-specific. For students from commerce or arts backgrounds targeting banking, finance, or general management roles, we adapt the technical interview content accordingly. We do not assume all students are targeting IT companies.
